Shattered Dream: Reflections on a Fragmented Icon

Terri:  The flag seems torn into shards.

Tim:    Eventually that happens to every symbol.

Sam:    So do you think the American flag is basically meaningless?

Tim:    (Shrugging his shoulders). To some it no doubt has great meaning.
        Why argue with them?

Ted:   (sighing) To me it has no more meaning than an ancient Roman banner
        or Aztec feathered serpent.
