IN SHADOWS OF GREAT TREES: A Tribute to Ancient Verdure

	needles like
	sword blades

	and bark like
	aged parchment flakes

	branches lift as
	mutant cranes

	while roots stretch like
	fishing nets over rocky crags

	pines dance with
	with wind, waves, & rain

	as crows caw next to
	insects in the shade 


Daiki:    Ancient Japanese wisely recognized that some trees are endowed with spiritual energy.

Chariya:  Many traditional cultures claim this. Hence the edicts that some trees should never be cut.

An-Yi:    Nowadays, it seems that if the price is right almost anything will be cut.

Bhäraté:  Yeah . . . we've lost too much of the sacred.
