PROBLEM TEACHER: Dissecting a dissenting instructor Our new teacher has problems that merit a closer view. His outward credentials are adequate & he's got decent student reviews. But there are disturbing signs warranting deeper investigation. For example he criticizes our government & ridicules what the School Board has sought to do. His humor is mildly licentious - perhaps he's a bit unscrewed? The way that he looks at some students seems provocative & he told one student that most school are for fools. Let's have him interrogated or better yet - eliminated. a nice juicy scandal should do. Exploit his weaknesses: tilt a few stories in a theatrical light then attack boldly when the moment is right. In our school we want instructors who are patriotic, clean, & straight. We can't allow any teacher to turn schooling into a social game. Melissa: At some point in their careers, I suspect that nearly every teacher could be labeled "problematic". Liao: Sure - they're human and make mistakes. Aren't mistakes part of the learning process? Satoru: Of course, we also need accountability! Who pays for the mistakes that teachers make? Tim: Relax, people [ tend to make less mistakes as they get older . . . Satoru: I'm not so certain. Perhaps they simply become more adept at concealing mistakes . . . ===================================================================================== from _Crassroom Voices - Poetry, Art, & Dialogs about Education_ by T Newfields SUMMARY: A tirade against a non-conformist teacher and thoughts about how to get rid of him.
