CAPITAL-LESS: A Mutant Capitalist Credo In the cathedrals of Mammon and sanctuaries of avarice, few things are more sacred than the postulates of Adam Smith. Crafty capitalists understand when to cooperate or compete & constantly seek better ways to achieve, weighing risks with potential gains, then carefully considering consequences before taking aim. Far-sighted capitalists understand affluence involves more than cash at hand. Yes, they care about long-term futures as well as momentary demands. Lasting profit is never a one-way street: it is based on mutual benefits for all those with seemingly valid needs. However, too often it’s tempting to ignore inconvenient truths, focusing merely on how quarterly reports do. Terri: (raising her eyebrows) What the heck is this author saying? Kris: It seems like a standard tongue-in-cheek anti-capitalist tirade, with just a hint of earnestness. Tim: (sighing) It's not uncommon for any philosophy to contain many contradictions. ================================================================================= from _AmeriSong: Poetry, Art, & Dialogs about Amerika_ by T Newfields SUMMARY: Reflections on the contradictions inherent in capitalism.
