SAPULENCE: A reflection on priorities

	cherry blossoms don't matter n
	or do emerging leaves

	branches are of no conse
	quence nor the trunks of twist
	ed trees -

	it is the sap within that is nec
	tar: of that succulence i aspi
	re to drink.

	o sapulence of spring!
	o syrup whose nectar
	transforms my flesh
	from a pupae-grub
	into a cicada
	which not only flies
	but sings!
