BELOW THE SURFACE: Some thoughts about transcendence and compassion

	On the surface, there is no mercy from the billows. 
	It's seems brutal when gazing at rock and sand.

	To know compassion we must go deeper
	& discover currents far from land

	In waters deeper than we've fathomed
	& currents stronger than we've seen
	we must learn the art of diving
	& explore the depths of being

	Bathe in the waters which gave you birth!
	Be free of terra firma
	& all land-based notions of worth!

	Cleanse yourself of terrestrial ideologies
	& in waters which sparkled
	long before humans emerged
	find clarity
