LEADERSHIP: Some Thoughts about Teacher Roles IMAGE: An image of a clenched right hand and partly open left hand with crayonist energy fields. Liao: Effective teachers take on many roles. As this drawing suggests, one essential role is leadership. Satoru: Many hands, many roles. Sort of makes sense. What other roles do you envision, oh Venerable Master of Bull Shit? Liao: (Ignoring the sarcasm) We could count hundreds. Vision, compassion, discipline, and fearlessness are primary roles. Melissa: Notice how one hand has a closed fist, expressing determination. Another is pointing upwards, expressing aspiration. Liao: Yeah. In ways few teachers realize simple hand gestures help us "lock" various mental states. Satoru: Body language is important. We're constantly teaching through our bodies, often unconsciously. Tim: Perhaps that's better. Too much knowledge pollutes. ===================================================================================== from _Crassroom Voices - Poetry, Art, & Dialogs about Education_ by T Newfields SUMMARY: An image of a pair of hands and dialog about the role of body language KEYWORDS: mudras, body language, energy fields, mental states, teacher roles Author: T Newfields [Nitta Hirou / Huáng Yuèwǔ] (b. 1955) Begun: 2002 in Nagoya, Japan / Finished: 2018 in Yokohama, Japan Creative Commons License: Attribution. {{CC-BY-4.0}} Granted < LAST http://www.tnewfields.info/CrassroomVoices/abc.htm TOC http://www.tnewfields.info/CrassroomVoices/index.html NEXT > http://www.tnewfields.info/CrassroomVoices/pstudent.htm
