ANOTHER TEACHER RANT: An intstructor's tirade Dear God, Why must I teach students who aren't interested in learning - just achieving their selfish little aims? Why aren't teachers allowed to use good old-fashioned discipline and put the fear of God into their shameless brains? 90% of my students are heading not only towards damnation, but their SAT scores are appallingly low! I exhort them to study, but they just laugh and say, "Ol' Hoppenthal - whadda whimp!" For thirty years I've done my best to brown-nose school officials and be a decent teacher as well. Yet in the final call, what does it matter? At the end of the day, don't all concerns about educational quality amount to mere window dressing? And when the Day of Judgment comes and all of us take our Final Exams, how many will enter Thy Gates? You know the truth of human hearts and how what's euphemistically called "education" is often a charade. Therefore, dear Lord, I beseech Thee to put some fear into the hearts of my students.
