NO NEED TO BE AN ISLAND: Some thoughts on social isolation in honor of John Donne

    There is no need 
    to be an island

    We are never 
    completely alone

    We are merely tiny drops 
    of a giant ocean
    whose borders 
    are more vast 
    than we can ever know


Andrei: (sighing) Ah, if only this were true! 

Rea:    The hard fact is that is we are always alone.

Mǐn:    I think it is a matter of perception. In mysterious ways, seemingly contradictory 
        statements can both be true. 

Tǐng:   Indeed which "truth" we see depends on our perception.
