Tim: You've said that you expect the human race to become extinct within a hundred years. Why is that?
Emerson: Because we are too foolish and short-sighted. By and large, we are blinded by short-term profits and seldom think of long-term trends.
Tim: So how can that be changed?
Emerson: I wish I knew. I don't expect humanity to embrace a single ideology or religion. Can altruism be programmed into our genes?
Tim: I don't know, but another solution is to make humans inconsequential. Let super-intelligent AI units take over, and place homo sapiens in some sort of protective quarantine.
Emerson: It might come to that.
Tim: Indeed. That might be our only hope.
