August 14, 1997 To whom it may concern: Mr. Tim Newfields is an experienced and respected instructor of English as a foreign language. I have known Tim since 1992. We worked together at Hamamatsu College for four years from 1993-1997, occasionally team teaching our classes, and in July 1997 we worked as part of a team to plan and then teach a four-day intensive English camp. For the college classes and camp, Tim carefully considered his students' interests and needs and planned interesting and relevant communicative English activities. He was always flexible to change his lesson plans to better serve his students after getting to know them. Tim always shared his enthusiasm for learning with his students, and was well-liked by students and teachers. As a dedicated professional, Tim is continually researching, writing and expanding his knowledge of teaching and learning. He's held many leadership positions in the Japan Association for Language Teaching, and is now volunteering his computer talents to develop JALT webpages. His computer knowledge will continue to benefit his students. Tim Newfields is a teacher, webpage designer, poet, a good role model for new teachers, and a student of life, and I would recommend him without hesitation for any future position. Sincerely yours,
