GOAL: To talk about your family with acquaintances and friends.


A. REVIEW:
Respond to the questions or statements below-

  5. So what do you do in your free time?
  6. What's your nick name?

Match these phrases, and practise them in pairs-

E. LISTENING/SPEAKING FOCUS:
A few days later Kay and her friend Ken are talking about their families -

**Kay: How big is your family?

**Ken: Is that so? What do your parents do?

Underline the best word(s) in brackets that fit.

K. COMMON MISTAKES:
Correct these mistakes individually, then check together -

  4. * My parents are cross to me.

L. DISCUSSION:
Talk with other people about your family in your group. Sample patterns -

* How big . . . ? * How close . . . ? * How well. . . ? * How often . . . ? * etc.
M. HOMEWORK:
Option A -


Describe your family. Mention their hobbies, occupations, personalities, etc.


Option B -


1. Make sentences using these words:

* generation     * how common     * arranged marriage
* strict     * envy     * divorce
* twin     * public servant     * engaged

2. Write the answers to the questions in Exercise #C.
